Synchronicity From The Other Side

September 26, 2014

Last week I wrote about synchronicity, if you didn’t get a chance to read it see the link here (link). I wanted to share a more complex synchronicity that occurred a few weeks ago that was a truly incredible experience.

I was on a hike and the place I go hiking at is full of different trails and being the creature of habit that I am, I always take the same trail. So here I am hiking and as usual, about to turn left, when all of a sudden this urge to go in another direction overcomes me. So I oblige and go straight.

As I was finishing the hike and heading back home; I passed a trail that was in the opposite direction of where I would normally go. Once again, something kept tugging at me to turn around and go down this unknown trail. It was as if there was a voice whispering in my ear, “turn around and go down that path.” My reasoning voice kicked in and said, “you’re done your hike, you’re hungry, you need to get back.

I couldn’t ignore the pull any longer so I turned around and went down the path, not knowing where I was headed, but knowing I needed to follow my gut. Not too far down the path I ended up at an incredibly calming lake. I took a small trail that led me right up to the water, where I stood in complete awe of the beauty that was around me - it was like time had stopped, I was the only person there, at my own magical lake.

There were literally hundreds of dragonflies all over the place; their hypnotic buzzing was all around me. There were two dragonflies that were playing together and one of them kept flying right up close to me as if it was trying to get my attention. My brother passed away this year and many in our family have felt that the dragonfly is symbolic of him. His girlfriend also passed away and I thought of them together as I watched the two dragonflies. The experience was so surreal, magical, and beautiful.

I left with a complete sense of knowing that my brother led me to this sacred place, a place between worlds – a bridge between the spirit and physical world, a place where his spirit spoke to me. It became even more synchronistic when the next morning I woke up and realized that it had been exactly 9 months since my brother passed. What a gift to receive from him! I spent the morning looking up the symbolism of the dragonfly and found more synchronicity.

That day the synchronicity continued – I was lying out in the backyard and a dragonfly came into the yard, I watched it fly in a figure 8 for over an hour. Later on that day I went swimming in my favorite river and another dragonfly flew up to visit me. Then, that evening I took a bath in my downstairs bathroom (which I rarely do) and to my surprise when I looked up, I was starring right at a picture my boyfriend had hung of, you guessed it, a blue dragonfly – just like the one I had been seeing.

Since my brother has passed I have had countless visitations, signs and synchronicities from him, all of which have touched me deeply in ways that can never be truly expressed and that I will be forever grateful for. He was a jokester and a trickster in life and he continues this on the other side, making me laugh and smile quite often. These signs fill my heart with a strong feeling/knowing of life after death. I miss him deeply, however, he has made it clear to me that his beautiful spirit lives on.

Synchronicity is a common occurrence in-relation-to the death of a loved one, especially when you ask for it and are open and aware to receiving it. A sign could be as simple as you thinking about your loved one and then a special song that they loved or that reminds you of them starts to play. Things like this can easily be overlooked and dismissed if you aren’t paying attention. Sometimes the message is so clear and direct that you can’t possibly ignore it, and if you were to ignore it, it will keep coming at you, until you finally acknowledge it.

I would love to hear about the synchronicity and signs that you have experienced from your loved ones on the other side.

My favorite synchronicity story is of my grandfather. He would always teach me card tricks and he told me that if I practiced hard enough, I could name every single card in a deck (# & suit!) just by “visualizing” the card and never looking at the card. One night, I was laying in bed restless. I pulled out a deck of cards, flipped upside down, and tried to name the card by visualizing. Of course, I was getting every single one incorrect until I got one. I then put the card away and went to sleep. I awoke the next morning to find out my grandfather had passed that prior evening. I know without doubt he paid me a visit that evening.
